Audience: Headteachers, senior leaders, disadvantaged and pupil-premium leads, SENCOs, curriculum leaders and teaching and learning leads, primary and secondary.

This course will provide:

This session will support school leaders to consider effective and equitable approaches to improving the experiences and outcomes of disadvantaged pupils and others who may face barriers to learning.

Colleagues will explore how schools can identify barriers accurately, make informed decisions about provision and evaluate whether their approaches are making a meaningful difference.

The briefing will draw upon current evidence, guidance and examples from practice. It will also provide opportunities for colleagues to reflect on their own priorities and share approaches with other schools.

Key Aims:

  • To consider the barriers that may affect pupils’ learning, participation and outcomes.
  • To explore evidence-informed approaches to supporting disadvantaged pupils.
  • To strengthen the use of school information, pupil voice and professional knowledge.
  • To consider how leaders evaluate the impact of provision and the use of resources.
  • To share effective practice and identify priorities for further development.
