Middle leaders play a crucial role in improving provision, developing colleagues and translating whole-school priorities into effective practice.
This three-session programme provides a collaborative, evidence-informed space in which middle leaders can strengthen their confidence, deepen their understanding of leadership and apply practical approaches within their own settings.
The programme complements NPQ study while offering a distinctive focus on local practice, professional discussion and practical application, without formal assessment requirements.
Programme Journey:
Session 1: Understanding and Leading for Impact
- Understanding how middle leaders influence provision, practice and culture.
- Balancing the needs of the task, team and individual.
- Motivating, supporting and challenging colleagues.
- Drawing upon Adair’s Action-Centred Leadership and Situational Leadership.
Session 2: Leading Professional Development and Building Relationships
- Building trust, strengthening relationships and giving effective feedback.
- Identifying colleagues’ starting points and professional learning needs.
- Planning and facilitating effective professional development.
- Drawing upon the Johari Window, Kolb’s Learning Cycle and Vygotsky’s Zone of Proximal Development.
Session 3: Vision, Culture and Leading Change
- Defining and communicating a clear vision.
- Understanding and influencing organisational culture.
- Prioritising leadership time and sustaining improvement.
- Leading colleagues successfully through change.
- Drawing upon Sinek, Hall’s Cultural Iceberg, Covey’s Time Matrix, the Pareto Principle and Kotter’s model of change.
