Agenda - EYFS Network

This network meeting will bring together EYFS leaders and practitioners to explore what the latest Ofsted changes mean for leadership and practice in nursery and Reception.

Drawing upon the updated inspection framework and current thinking around strong foundations, colleagues will consider what high-quality provision looks like across communication and language, literacy, mathematics, interaction, inclusion and children’s personal, social and emotional development.

The session will provide opportunities for colleagues to reflect upon their own provision, share approaches and resources, and consider how curriculum, teaching and assessment give all children the knowledge and skills they need for later learning. Where possible, colleagues will also have the opportunity to see practice in context.

Key Aims:

  • To understand the latest Ofsted changes and their implications for EYFS provision.
  • To explore the difference between expected and strong practice under the updated inspection framework.
  • To consider how schools secure strong foundations in communication, language, literacy and mathematics.
  • To reflect upon curriculum sequencing, high-quality adult interaction and inclusive practice.
  • To consider how leaders evaluate provision, use EYFSP information and support effective transition into Year 1.
  • To use expertise and knowledge from within the network whilst drawing upon external research, guidance and information to serve as inspiration.
